about

This is the fourth of four songs by Gavin Parker composed in a Bob-Dylanesque style, which we performed at the New Troubadours and recorded later in my flat along the road in Chepstow House

lyrics

Down in the muddy waters,
I'm told there grows a tree.
There is a sign upon it says
"a strange fruit hangs from me"

I looked up to the black branch
stretched out across the path
and there I saw a dead man
blood at his feet, a wrath

I put my pen to paper
as I leant against the tree
and wrote what I imagined was
his sad obituary
